Our students deserve positive mental health. Positive Education has been proven to boost student engagement. Lowering levels of anxiety, disconnect and depression, Positive Education increases hope, success and wellbeing.
Our shared challenge is how to help students, teachers and schools feel empowered to embrace this type of learning.
Our vision is to capture student stories of impact, where they share how PosEd activities have benefited them and their schools.
The genesis of this group is rooted in a conversation held in early 2022 with Dr. Martin Seligman, founder of positive psychology and professor at Penn.
Many of our teachers are stretched thin. They are juggling an ever-expanding to-do list under more and more challenging circumstances.
In light of this, how can we expand the reach of Positive Education? Professor Seligman advised us that we need to partner with the students themselves.
Invite students to share success stories to help motivate and inspire fellow students to become engaged and passionate learners.
Explore ways to expand story visibility and virality, including the creation of campaigns, micro certifications, recognition and student spotlights.
Link student successes to related Positive Education concepts, training resources, and research in order to help teachers understand how to replicate similar experiences with their own students.
Synthesize story results and partner with teachers and educational leaders to explore the best formula for success to bring more Positive Education opportunities to young people.
Track key data metrics in order to understand the emerging trends and maximize the impact of this work.
Students who are healthy on all levels – academically, emotionally and physically
Young people who are supported in becoming the best versions of themselves
A proven and sustainable pathway powered by the passion and energy of students to bring these learning opportunities to more young people
The Positive Education Consortium welcomes all who share in our passion and vision to help expand Positive Education out to more students. If you would like to share your success stories and help us build best practices to support the intentions above, reach out to PosEdConsortium@gmail.com
